Step 1: Clean your foot
Wash your foot and dry it well. Do not apply lotion before starting. If your skin is oily, wipe it with a little eucalyptus oil so the henna sticks better.
Step 2: Draw the ankle band
Start with the wide band around the ankle. First, draw the top and bottom border lines. Then, fill the inside with small scallops (curved shapes) and tiny floral motifs. Finally, add the small dangling dots and chains just below the band.
Step 3: Draw the main floral motif
Next, draw the large flowers on the top of your foot. Use bold lines for the petals. Connect the flowers with swirling vines and leaves. Keep the lines smooth and flowing.
Step 4: Fill the gaps
Use small dots and thin lines to fill the empty spaces around the flowers. This heavy filling makes the design look rich and prevents it from looking empty.
Step 5: Decorate the toes
Fill the tips of your toes with solid henna caps. Add a small dot or a short line just below each cap to complete the look.
Step 6: Let it dry and set
Leave the henna paste on for 4 to 6 hours, or overnight for a darker color. Scrape it off gently. Do not wash with water right away. Apply coconut oil or a light balm. The color will deepen in 24 to 48 hours.
Tips for a Better Result
· Use a fine-tipped cone: The ankle band has many small details. A fine tip helps you draw them neatly.
· Draw the main flowers first: Always draw the big flowers before adding the vines and leaves around them.
· Keep the toe caps sharp: The solid caps on the toes are very visible. Make sure the edges are clean and straight.
· Use a stencil for the ankle band: If drawing a straight band is hard for you, use a stencil or a white pencil to draw the outline first.
· Be patient: The color will not be dark right away. Let it sit on your skin and avoid water for the first few hours after removing the paste.
This traditional foot mehndi design looks beautiful and is great for weddings, festivals, or any special family event.
